One design system for a racing game built on the blockchain.
Formula E: High Voltage is a racing-management game developed at Amber for Animoca Brands and officially licensed by Formula E. You play a team principal, assembling cars, drivers and special abilities and racing them on city circuits like Rome, New York, London and Berlin.
It runs on the Flow blockchain, so in-game items are NFTs that players own outright, in rarity tiers from Common to Legendary, and can collect, train, upgrade and manage.
My Role
I led the design system that gave the game one visual language, and built it into the product. New features started as prototypes, so we could test them against the game’s goals before committing to them, and I led a major overhaul of the core gameplay screens to make them easier to use. Working across product and engineering, I made sure it all landed as one consistent experience.
